Discussion questions that start from the page, not from memory
Generic question lists fail a reading group twice: they ask about scenes half the group has not reached, and they import plot points from outside the passage — a spoiler wearing a question mark. The question lab skill works only from the passage in front of the group. Here is a real set it produced:
STATUS: READY QUESTIONS: - What might Mira's choice to leave the invitation suggest, without assuming her motive? EVIDENCE: "Mira folded the invitation and left it on the windowsill." - How does the missing envelope change what readers can confidently say happened? EVIDENCE: "the envelope was gone." SOURCE CHECK: - Both evidence phrases appear in SUPPLIED_EXCERPT_OR_SUMMARY.
Sample data above is fictional, shown so you can judge the output before buying.
The evidence line travels with the question
Each question carries its line — the exact words from the passage it comes from, quoted verbatim. 'Mira folded the invitation and left it on the windowsill' is in the passage; anything the group builds on top of it is discussion, clearly separated from the text. The source check confirms both evidence phrases appear in the supplied excerpt before the set is marked ready. A question whose line cannot be found does not ship with an approximate one.
What stays out of the set
- Imported plot points — nothing from later chapters, other editions, or the facilitator's memory of the book
- Assumed motives — the first question asks what a choice might suggest 'without assuming her motive'; the passage shows the act, not the reason
- Spoilers by implication — a question that only makes sense if you know what happens next gives the ending away
When the passage is not enough
If the material is missing or contradictory, the skill returns clarification questions under HOLD instead of inventing discussion material. Discussion questions built from the passage in front of your group — each one paired with the exact line it comes from. No imported plot points, no spoilers.

Questions
Does it fill in missing details?
No — its instructions prohibit inventing details and require flags for uncertainty; AI output can still be wrong, so you must review it.
Do I need a paid add-on, API, or connected account?
No — you need access to a compatible AI chat; access limits and any chat-service charges depend on that provider.
Is the draft ready to send or publish without review?
No — the status and source checks are intended to support human verification first.
